Lake:
Billie enjoyed the tranquil lake in the late afternoon. It was rare she had time to herself at Tiana’s farm, so the lake was her best chance for peace and quiet. It didn’t hurt that in those spare moments she could wade into the shallower areas of the water to catch some fish that stuck around the water by the shore. The water itself was cool to the touch and as she stepped into the lake and walked down into the blue water she found herself closing her eyes and embracing the water’s chilling touch on her legs. She could see the fish already swimming around her legs and Billie knew if she moved a few more feet into the deeper part of the lake she would find much larger fish.
Taking a few more steps, Billie found a fish perfect to take to the shore and enjoy for her lunch. Not too big and not too small she watched as her chosen bird swam back and forth in a frantic manner. The zigzag motion left Billie a little distracted from the surroundings she enjoyed so much, but she knew she had to take her plunge into the water now before the fish decided to move on. Bracing herself Billie dove under the water and reemerged with the fish in her jaws. It wasn’t the best grasp on the fish, so as soon as her face broke through the wavy top of the lake, the fish flew from her mouth into the air.
Bracing to catch the fish as it fell back from the sky, but feeling blinded by the afternoon light she waited to hear the fish plopping back down into the water. After a few seconds, Billie realized the fish never fell back into the lake and looking around, she found her fish in the grasp of an eagle that was flying away across the lake. Bounding to catch up to it, Billie felt herself bubbling with anger at the fact her meal had gotten stolen right from over her head.
Panting hard in an effort to reach the massive bird, Billie hoped the eagle would soon find out that it was messing with the wrong Tokota. After a bit she found she had to swim as her paws were unable to reach the surface as she bound across the water. The eagle didn’t seem bothered or interested in the fact that Billie was chasing it, but it also hadn’t yet left the lake surface giving Billie a chance to reach the eagle before it flew up into the nearby conifer trees.
After only a minute or so, Billie was right under the eagle. She braced herself to jump, but without any way to use the bottom of the lake to push off from, Billie’s jaws only snapped at air. By this time they were close to the other side of the small lake’s shore, so she figured padding after the eagle for a few more feet would give her the chance to reach the eagle carrying her fish away. With one last breath, Billie found her footing and sprang into the air. +525 Words
